The 210th anniversary of Napoleon’s landing at Golfe-Juan is quite a significant event, marked by major events on March 1, 2025. I was particularly intrigued by the historical significance of this location, having visited the French Riviera coastline with my family last summer. We stumbled upon a beautiful marina near Vallauris, which seemed like a hidden gem, and I couldn’t help but think of the rich history that surrounds this area. The parallel between the historical landing sites and the modern-day marinas is something I have been thinking about because it highlights the blend of history and modernity that the French Riviera embodies. As a Muslim family, we also appreciated the availability of halal food options in the area, which made our trip even more enjoyable. I wonder, will the anniversary events include any nods to the multiculturalism of the region, and how will they balance the historical commemoration with the modern-day attractions that draw tourists to the area?
