The heart of the neighborhoods: Old Nice (1)

Old Nice is the heart of the old town. It consists of small, often winding streets lined with well-maintained old buildings in Italian style. It is not a pedestrian zone, but the streets are crowded with pedestrians. There are many old and high-quality shops (gastronomic, local products). Old Nice is home to both locals and tourists. It is therefore a must-see but also very lively place. It can be enjoyable during the day and the same is true in the evening. The tram and buses are located all around. The port district (2)

The Port Lympia neighborhood includes marinas, fishing ports, and connections to Corsica.
All around are middle-class homes and shops, including a large number of bars and restaurants. It is therefore a tourist district that is modernizing, lively, and pleasant. Served by the tram and buses. Pleasant atmosphere.

The city center (17, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26)

Carabacel (17)

The Carabacel neighborhood is adjacent to Jean Médecin / Place Masséna. It is part of the city center, which is richly endowed with quality shops and buildings featuring remarkable architecture in both the Belle Époque and Ligurian styles. Decorated facades, glazed tiles, ornate balconies, and domes.
This chic and lively neighborhood is served by the tram to the east, south, and west, as well as by bus lines.

The Jean Médecin neighborhood stretches from the famous Place Masséna in the south to the Thiers train station in the north. It is very close to Old Nice. Perfectly served by public transportation (buses and trams), its Jean Médecin axis is the commercial heart of Nice, where the Nice Etoile shopping center is located. A very lively neighborhood.

Les Musiciens (23)

The musicians' district or Thiers district is located south of the central station of the same name. It is mainly a residential area with a variety of housing, some of it chic and Belle Epoque in style, some more modest. The district is served by train, tram, and bus.

Le Carré d'or (24)

The Carré d'or neighborhood is, as its name suggests, a highly sought-after and chic neighborhood, without being snobbish. Consisting of high-quality Art Deco and Belle Époque style housing, it runs along the Prom', the famous Promenade des Anglais. A chic but not necessarily stuffy neighborhood, it is lively without being crowded, very diverse and authentic, cosmopolitan but with a beautiful personality. Close to everything, the quality of life remains one of this neighborhood's greatest assets. Buses and trams provide excellent service, but most attractions are best explored on foot.

Gambetta/Magnan/Baumettes/Fabron (25, 26, 27)

• The Gambetta neighborhood is an area of contrasts, between stylish homes and more working-class buildings. Located between the Consulate, Thiers central station, public gardens, and local shops, it is well served by buses and trams. However, the northern part is further from the center and the Promenade des Anglais than the southern part of the neighborhood.
• The Baumettes neighborhood stretches along the side of a hill. The upper part of the neighborhood is very residential, consisting of villas and high-quality housing.
• On the other hand, the southern part of the neighborhood, towards Magnan, is a little livelier, with more shops, although it is still quiet and close to the Promenade des Anglais.
• Finally, the Fabron neighborhood to the west is pleasant, with good public transportation (bus, tram) in the south and hills in the north.

Airport / Arenas / Saint Augustin (30)

The airport district, Grand Arenas, Saint Augustin is a modern area, consisting mainly of recent buildings, except for some along the sea. Modern means that it lacks the charm of Old Nice or the Carré d'Or. However, it can be a good choice for a few days' stay, as it is easy to get to (bus, tram, train). Life here is mainly transient, except for the area along the sea.
