SOMMAIRE / SUMMARY
The Terra Amata Prehistory Museum in Nice is named after the site where remains of the first prehistoric settlements were discovered.
This archaeological museum bears witness to the research carried out. On display, for example, is a reconstruction of a floor as it was discovered. But also objects, mainly animal remains or carved stones. A footprint and a milk tooth from a seven-year-old child also bear witness to local life.
Another vivid illustration of local life, numerous films offer a great insight into the life of prehistoric man: habitat, natural environment, hunting, etc.
These early Nicoise hunted elephant, rhinoceros, deer, aurochs and wild boar. Their tools, hatchets or bifaces, were essentially made from pebbles collected on the beach.
