3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, Unoc Nice 2025

This international UN conference is jointly organized by Costa Rica and France. "The aim is to reach a historic international agreement to protect the Ocean." The conference takes place from June 9 to 13, 2025, in Nice's brand-new Centre des Congrés.

From June 1 to August 31, 2025, the Cinémathèque de Nice is offering a series of films related to the sea. In July and August, the screening will take place outdoors.

Art in the city for the Year of the Sea 2025 in Nice includes a series of works of art - paintings, frescoes, sculptures, monumental constructions - scattered throughout the city. These artistic works are installed in the streets, in the squares, to benefit the greatest number of people.

The urchin of art in the city

A gigantic sea urchin test (the test is the "skeleton" of the sea urchin) is installed at Rauba Capeu, in place of the famous I Love Nice. The structure stands out beautifully against the backdrop of the city or the Mediterranean. Composed of a galvanized steel structure, it is clad in crochet and braided mesh, giving it quite the appearance of sea urchin tests.

But if you look closely, you'll discover marine elements: stars, ship's bars, sextants and why not satellites so useful for navigation.

Ichtus for the Year of the Sea 2025 in Nice

Ichtus (fish in ancient Greek) is an installation by Dan Mestanza.
